Switch Communications have been selected by Ofwat (The Water Services Regulation Authority) through the Public Services National Procurement Partner ‘Buying Solutions’ Framework, to install and maintain a secure LAN network that will enable smooth transition to Voice over IP.

The winning design was based on Alcatel-Lucent’s OmniSwitch 6850 and OmniSwitch 6400. This cost effective, completely integrated and converged solution featuring QoS and PoE has the additional benefit of low power consumption reducing the ICT footprint for Ofwat in line with Government regulations of carbon neutrality by 2012.

"After careful evaluation Ofwat selected Switch Communications who with its proposed solution addressed all our requirements with a high level of inbuilt security, resilience and manageability,” stated Ofwat's IT Manager, John Baynham, when explaining its decision.
